As this area is a territory that sits on many borders and in which many different types of influences are obvious, Soria Romanesque art displays many unique qualities which can be seen in its mural paintings in the apsidioles as well as in the magnificent porticos. This is a Romanesque style that is both austere and monumental, whose contrasts create a uniqueness that contributes to its great appeal. In addition, these examples of Romanesque architecture sit amidst extraordinary cultural landscapes, preserved in part by its own stagnation that the people of Soria have experienced due to the rural atmosphere in the interior of Spain. This virtual tour of the territory of Soria Románica aims to create a point of contact with the unique artistic values of the buildings and their interior artworks and surroundings that make up this Cultural Project, promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León and managed by the Fundación Duques de Soria during 2007-2010. The existence of specific characteristics within Soria Románica have facilitated the creation of a typology definition which helps us to understand this great artistic expression, and makes Soria an important place of reference. Through the buildings and monuments described, we hope to increase knowledge and spark an interest in visiting this area, not only to discover what is documented on this web page, but also enjoy the unique landscape and culture.

The Soria Románica Cultural Project not only aims to contribute to the preservation of the heritage of Soria, but also intends to promote cultural tourism that will boost the economy and society in this interior province of Spain.
